Michel Bouvet was born in 1955 in Tunis (Tunisia) and studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. He lives and works in Paris. His studio works are mainly for public institutions: theatres, operas, museums, festivals, dance companies, orchestras... and for publishers in France and abroad. He has participated as a poster artist in international biennales in Warsaw, Toyama, Lahti, Helsinki, Brno, Fort-Collins, Mexico, Chaumont, Rzeszow, Sofia, Ogaki, Zagreb, Moscow, Hangzhou, Taipei, Chicago and the Art Directors Club, New York.
Major awards include The Grand Prize for a Cultural Poster, Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris. First Prize International Poster Biennale, Fort-Collins, Colorado, USA. First Prize International Biennale of Theatre Posters, Rzeszow, Poland. Silver Medal International Poster Triennial in Toyama, Japan. The Jan Lenica Prize, International Poster Biennale, Warsaw, Poland. The Alphonse Mucha Prize and Bronze Medal at Brno Biennale. Honorable Mentions in Warsaw, Lahti, Fort-Collins, Moscow, and Zagreb.
Bouvet is a Professor at the ESAG/Penninghen , École Supérieure des Arts Graphiques, Paris, and a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) since 1997.
