About the Poster: Poster for the classic Quebec movie, Les Invasions Barbares (2003), autographed by Denys Arcand, the director. This "French Canadian comedy-drama film ... is the sequel to Arcand's earlier film The Decline of the American Empire and is followed by Days of Darkness. The film was produced by companies from both Canada and France, including Telefilm Canada, Société Radio-Canada and Canal+. It was released in 2003 and won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 76th Academy Awards in 2004." (WIKIPEDIA)
This poster was part of the collection of Marc Choko, a professor at the Universite de Montreal (and until recently the director of its graphic design department), and a noted author of many books on posters, poster design and poster history.
As director of the Design Center affiliated with UQAM, Marc Choko revived the tradition of designing a poster for each exhibition, thus allowing many graduates of the School of Design to make their debut on the professional scene. The posters we offer here are not available anywhere else, and they come from the archives of M. Choko.
