Artist: Terechkovitch, Constantin
This original vintage poster was created to promote the French city of Menton's Chamber Music Festival.
The artist, Constantin Terechkovitch (born Kostia Terechkovitch, 1902-1978) was born in Moscow and immigrated to France in the years following the Russian revolution. He was born to a wealthy merchant family known for their modern art collection and was influenced from a young age by the work of Picasso and Matisse. He worked alongside other Russian expatriates and found success with his artist portraits and colourful compositions. Following the Second World War, Terechkovitch settled in the South of France. His work can be found in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the French National Modern Art Museum, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art among others.
This colourful poster comes to us from a private collection. Though it is in good overall condition, there is some creasing in the bottom and along the edges.
