About the Poster:
This rare poster advertises a series of shows put on by the Royal Netherlands Circus in the summer of 1881 in front of the Isator, one of the four main gates of Munich's medieval city wall. The shows were headed by Oscar Carré, a Dutch-German entrepreneur, circus director, and the namesake for the prestigious Oscar Carré Trophy.
This poster describes a show titled Robert and Bertram, or: The Escaped Galley Slaves, a show which included two dozen dancers on horseback.
Posters are delicate and have tears and some staining on the edges. See photos for more details.
