About The Poster: "Patufet (also known as En Patufet) is the main character of one of the most famous folktales of Catalan origin. It's usually presented as a very little kid the size of a rice grain, wearing a big red barretina so that his parents can better spot him around the place. He is curious and mischievous, until one day he decides to show the world that he's useful and reliable (according to some versions Patufet was good-natured and hard-working from the beginning).The first task he sets about to do is to go to the shop to buy some saffron. Since people can't see him because he's so small, he avoids being trodden on by singing.." (Source, Wikipedia)
"Patufet was the first magazine of its kind, published from 1903 to 1938, and appeared in the most popular Catalan newspapers. In the beginning, the publication was a modest eight-page booklet which expanded to sixteen by number 10, ending in thirty-two pages of humorous illustrations and collaborations by famous writers of the time. From 1915 the pages came alive with illustrations by Junceda, and appeared in prominent journals which gave the publication great popularity. These were short stories, a daily idealized realism and an "exemplary lesson." Inspired by contemporary life in the country, especially in Barcelona. These pages gave birth, in the 1920s, to the largest youth movement prior to the civil war: the "Pomells Youth". "In Patufet" went on to capture an increasingly larger and varied audience through changes in presentation and content: larger format, more pages and content more appropriate for teens than for children."
