Artist: Lucien Boucher

This advertisement was created to announce the third annual Salon de l'imagerie, an expo that would highlight the best in imagery - whether hand-drawn or printed - from that year. It took place in 1942 (the year they introduced a new section dedicated to animation!) at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, a museum of the decorative arts and design, located in the Palais du Louvre's western wing known as the Pavillon de Marsan in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, France.

The poster features the artwork of Lucien Boucher (1889-1971), a French cartoonist, engraver, illustrator, and poster artist who, starting in the 1920s, dedicated himself to designing movie and advertising posters. Although he occasionally dappled in creating surrealist lithographic works, he is certainly most recognized for the many planispheres he designed for Air France. Poster is unlined and in good condition with signs of wear in line with its age (see images).
