Date: 1967
Size: 26.5 x 38.5 inches
Artist: Swierzy, Waldemar
About the Poster: This 1960s Polish poster, promoting tours of the Warsaw Municipal Zoo, features a very handsome hippo (who we have decided to name Gloria, for no particular reason. She just looks like a Gloria to us ...)
Posters from this gorgeous series are becoming more and more difficult to find and for good reason: who could resist such fabulous design, perfect colours, and a smiling hippo?
About the Artist: Waldemar Swierzy (born 1931) is among the best Polish poster artists. In 1992 the government of Poland issued a postage stamp to honor one of his "Cyrk" posters. Swierzy is one of the Polish School of Posters most prolific artists (having created over 2500 posters).
