About the Poster: This modern poster was created by Ralph Schraivogel for a 1985 exhibition held at the Museum of Design in Zurich, Switzerland. The exhibition centered around Hans Hilfiker, a Swiss engineer and designer. He most notably created the Swiss Railway Clock, which became an icon of design and is still used in train stations around the world to this day.
When creating the famed clock, Hilfiker's job was to synchronize all the station clocks and ensure that trains would leave at the exact right time, at the start of the minute. The Swiss Railway Clock became an international icon of design and its clockface was used in Apple's iPod and iPhone interface until 2014. Hilfiker was also responsible for many other contributions to modern living, such as the fitted kitchen concept and standard Swiss dimensions for kitchen components.
This poster has some minor flaws in the top right edge, but is otherwise in great condition and ready to be framed. See pictures for details.
About the Artist: "Ralph Schraivogel was born in 1960 in Lucerne, Switzerland. He studied graphic design at the Schule für Gestaltung Zürich from 1977 to 1982. After receiving his diploma, he opened his own graphic design studio in Zurich. He designs print media and devotes himself above all to poster design.
Ten years after graduating, Schraivogel returned to the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Zürich as a lecturer, where he continued to teach until 2001. During 2000-2001 he was a guest professor at the Berlin University of the Arts. Since 2003 he teaches at the Luzern University of Applied Sciences and Arts." (Alliance Graphique Internationale)
