About the Poster: This modern poster was created for a 1986 exhibition held at the Museum of Design in Zurich, Switzerland. The exhibition promoted alternate ways of thinking about interior spaces and was put together by Erwin Mühlestein. The captions on the poster roughly translate to "The Other New Living: New Forms of Living and Housing Plans" followed by "The essentials of new living are common areas that are expanded into other common areas facing inwards."
Swiss design of this era has been described as "serene, unflustered modernity". This philosophy extended to every area of design, including interior design, aiming to find new ideas aligned with the needs of modern life. Swiss art historian and advocate of modernism Sigfried Giedion once said: "A house is beautiful when it corresponds to our feeling of life. (...) A house is beautiful if its rooms do not impact a feeling of being closed in. A house is beautiful if its charms result from the interplay of functions well served."
This poster has minor creases in the top right corner but is otherwise in excellent condition and ready to be framed.
