Artist: Raymond Savignac
Raymond Savignac, often just abbreviated to "Savignac," was a French graphic artist famous for his commercial posters. He was born on November 6, 1907, in Paris, and died on October 31, 2002, in Trouville-sur-mer, aged 94. His work is distinguished by a humorous simplicity. Self-taught, he started designing posters under Cassandre. A permanent display of his work can be found in the Montebello Museum in Trouville.
This poster is in excellent condition; it is a reprint of the original design which came out in the 1990's. Featuring a campaign for Monsavon soap, this advertisement poster is playing with the symbolic imagery of the cow and the soap represented as one element.
