This piece is 1 of 4-panel posters designed to illustrate life in Brazil, circa 1940. Each image represents a scene from Brazilian life and would have been used in American schools to teach children about foreign lands.
From the pamphlet that accompanies the poster: "One of the most interesting and important republics of South America is Brazil. It is the largest country in South America and the fifth largest in the world, even larger than the United States... Although the people of the cities and the coastal regions of Brazil are highly civilized, if we were to go back into parts of the interior we would find Indians living just as they lived before America was discovered. A large portion of Brazil is a vast jungle, parts of which have never been explored by the white man ..."
This poster is in very good condition, apparent folds.
