About San Lázaro: The Santuario de San Lázaro (Sanctuary of San Lázaro) is one of the most important destinations for pilgrims on the whole island of Cuba, in Havana. This temple, which is hidden in the village of El Rincón, lacks ostentation. Inside we find the saint San Lázaro, also known as Babalú Ayé, an Orisha in the santería, known to be the saint of healing the sick and caring for the poor. His feast day is December 17, when tens of thousands of Cubans make the pilgrimage to show their devotion to the Catholic saint. Near the sanctuary there is a hospital for patients with leprosy and other skin pathologies.
