About the Museum: The National Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions was a national museum founded in 1937 by Georges Henri Rivière. Located since 1972 in theBois de Boulogne in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, this ethnology museum presented a synthetic vision of traditional French society, essentially rural and artisanal, from the 19th century to the 1960s.
After more than seventy years of existence, it closed its doors to the public in 2005. Its collections now constitute the major collection of the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilization in Marseilles.
