About the poster: Printed in 1977, this poster references two important elements of Chilean political history: C.U.T.stands for "The Workers' United Center of Chile,  a union federation in Chile. The CUT was founded in 1953, but it was suppressed after the Chilean coup of 1973. It was re-established in September 1988 near the end of Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship. The CUT is affiliated with the International Trade Union Confederation."

The poster itself is in the graphic tradition of the Inti-Illimani an instrumental and vocal Latin American folk music ensemble from Chile. The band was formed in 1967 by a group of university students and it acquired widespread popularity in Chile for their song Venceremos (We shall win!), which became the anthem of the Popular Unity of government of Salvador Allende.   Their name means 'Sun of the Illimani': Illimani, in Aymara language, is the name of a mountain in the Bolivian Andes and it means 'Golden Eagle'.

This poster is in good condition, with pinholes in the corners, minor ruffles and a tape mark in the top left corner. Please see photos. A rare piece of political propaganda.
