Early lithographic posters were just a step up from the letterpress posters that preceded them. Lithography allowed advertisers to add color to advertising posters which had, up until then, mainly been black and white.
This early poster for Hutchinson tires (a copy which still exists, and in fact dominates much of the French market) is a beautiful example of early lithography. Tax stamp on the top right of final 'N' is another hint this is an original, non-reproduction poster.
