About The Poster:
Threepenny Opera is a play with music by Bertolt Brecht. It is an adaptation of an 18th century ballad called the Beggar's Opera. It offers a Socialist critique of the capitalist world and was - almost from the moment it was first staged - a roaring success. By 1933 it had already been translation into 18 languages and performed more than 10,000 times on European stages. Ballads from the play have been widely covered - and almost 100 years after it first opened, it continues to draw in audiences around the world.
