This original screen print is rare, from an edition of 75. Unlike El Jefe's usual run of concert posters, this particular work references the 2008 movie Step Brothers starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. The plot sees two aimless middle-aged men still living at home who are forced against their will to become roommates when their parents marry. When Ferrell and Reilly's characters first meet, they introduce themselves to each other as 'Dragon' and 'Nighthawk'. By the end of the movie, they come together and save the day by performing the song Con Te Partiro. This poster bridges the gap between music and movie posters by showing how the two characters see themselves as both heroic karate masters and talented musicians.
El Jefe - whose real name is Jeffrey Everett - is a successful designer, illustrator, and author working out of Washington, DC. The subject matter of most of his posters centers around music, and while they fit right in to rock clubs and concert venues, his work can also be found inked into brave people’s skin and framed in high-end galleries around the world (including ours!).
