About the Artist: Theophilus Creber (1845–1902) was a British printer, lithographer, and showman. He became particularly well known as a “show printer,” producing colorful posters for circuses, theatres, exhibitions, and other entertainment, often featuring animals and exotic subjects. His printing business operated from Union Street in Plymouth and produced striking large-format lithographic posters. Today, his bold and colorful posters are highly regarded examples of Victorian-era British commercial printing and entertainment art.
