About the artist: Georges Villa (1883 - 1965) was a French painter. When the first World War broke out, he joined the French Army as a reserve officer, later training to become an aviation officer, ending the war in the rank of captain.
His experience with aviation has no doubt influenced his work, with this original vintage poster as a prime example. It depicts aviation as a new, innovative technology, outpacing the old man running on foot. This idea is reinforced by the accompanying text: "le temps est de l'argent - les ailes font gagner du temps" ("time is money - wings save you time").
