Guy Montpetit is a well known Canadian artist, over the century he has created a name for himself among the artists of his generation. He studied at the Fine Arts School of Montreal and spent two years at the Atelier 17 in Paris. His style can be determined by the boldness of his color palette and his geometric lines. He has created numerous murals over the years, found all around the city of Montreal. They are composed of luminous panels incorporate bright colors and minimalist geometric forms. Guy also played a key role in creating the "1%" law for new builds to require 1% of the budget to be allocated to art, which largely contributes employment opportunities in the art industry to this day.
He incorporates his artworks into architectural spaces; his murals represent his love for the two disciplines. Also, he tries to bring awareness to social causes which are relevant to him.
