About The Poster:
is the world's largest performing arts festival. It started in 1947 as an unofficial offshoot (on the "fringes") of the Edinburgh International Festival, which focused primarily on music (especially classical music). While the event started out as a theatre festival, stand-up comedy acts started to be included in the early 80's. Nowadays, comedy is the festival's main attraction.
This poster was designed to promote the 1980 edition of the festival. It was designed by Sharon Watts, at the time a 13-year-old high school student from Edinburgh.
