About the poster: Poster designed for the exhibition of Cuban posters at the Festival Artes de Cuba (2018), convened by CartelON at the request of The Kennedy Center for the performing Arts.
About the artist: Michele Miyares Hollands graduated from the Higher Institute of Design (ISDi) in 2002. She has taught at ISDi and ISA. Her work has been exhibited inside and outside the country, and has been reviewed in national and international publications such as Slanted, Print and Étapes. She designs posters for the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) and collaborates with some of the main publishing houses in the country. In 2016 she was part of the exhibition 50/50/50 fifty years, fifty posters, fifty designers, at the 50th anniversary of the Warsaw International Poster Biennale. In this same year and in collaboration with the Museum of Natural History in New York, USA, she made the promotional image illustration for the exhibition ¡CUBA! Exhibition also, in which several of her posters are shown together with the work of other Cuban colleagues. She is part of the Nocturnal design group.
About the Exhibition: Featuring some of Cuba's best artists and leading Cuban-American creators, Artes de Cuba inspired with more than 50 events over two weeks, including music, dance, theater, film, fashion, design and more. Artes de Cuba also extended beyond the performance spaces of the Kennedy Center, and extended to its rooms and terraces with free exhibitions, and to the Millennium Stage with 12 free performances that were broadcasted online.
