About The International Union of Marionettes: UNIMA was founded in Prague in 1929. In 1981, the French puppeteer Jacques Félix moved UNIMA's headquarters to Charleville-Mézières, France, location of the Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes since 1972. UNIMA is affiliated to UNESCO and it is a member of the International Theatre Institute.
About the Artist: Adam Kilian (1923–1987) was a renowned Polish scenographer, illustrator, and poster artist whose career was closely linked to puppet theatre. Best known for his work with Warsaw's Teatr Lalka, he created imaginative stage designs, puppets, and costumes inspired by Polish folk art. His posters reflect the same playful spirit, combining collage, bold colours, and expressive characters. The 1979 poster celebrating the 50th Anniversary of UNIMA (Union Internationale de la Marionnette) is one of his best-known graphic works and a fine example of the Polish School of Posters.
This poster has ruffled edges on bottom right and top right. Please see pictures for more details. Ready to frame!
